What to eat before and after the workout sessions


Everyone of us should manage some time from our busy schedule for regular workout. Regular workout keeps you healthy and fit. No matter what type of workout you are following, the more important thing is your diet before and after each workout sessions. Whether you are following cardio, circuit training or strength training, your pre & post diet plays a vital role into this. Let us know what to eat before and after the workout sessions.


What to eat before and after the workout sessions

Cardio workout

Cardio workout involves fast pace exercises such as running, cycling, skipping, aerobics etc. Let’s have a look at “what to eat in pre & post diet in cardio workout”.

· Pre-diet for cardio workout

As cardio is a fast-pace workout, hence you should have low fat & rich in carb meal minimum 1 hour prior to workout session. You may have a banana, a glass of milk or a handful of almonds to give you energy.

· Post-die for cardio workout

After cardio session your body needs nutrients so that your energy level does not go down. This time you need protein and carbs to boost you with energy. You can have low fat milk, coconut water or a smoothie. These are the best option instead of caffeine added drinks.

Strength Training

This form of exercise involves exercises that use resistance in order to bring about muscular contraction. This will improve the strength and endurance of your muscles.

· Pre-die for Strength training

For this training, you should eat protein and carbs al least 1 hours prior to workout session. This will boosts your energy level and also minimizes the chances of muscle breakdown.

· Post-diet for strength training

When you workout in strength training, it require lot of energy level. Hence it is very important that you give proper healthy food to your body. You can have a protein shake after the workout session. 

Circuit training

This training involves couple of exercises at rapid intervals, so it improves the strength of your muscles. Let’s have a look at what to eat in pre & post diet in circuit training.

· Pre-diet for circuit training

Your main focus should be on carbs and a slight lesser focus on proteins. The best options to eat before circuit training are fresh fruits such as apple, banana etc. You can also have mix of dried fruits almost 45 minutes prior to circuit training session.

· Post-diet for circuit training

Post-diet in case of circuit training should include very little fat. The best options are smoothie, fresh salad, protein shakes or fresh fruits.
